I agree that the global enthusiasm for Obama (who I&#039;ve supported unabashedly from the beginning) is exciting and refreshing. But I&#039;d also submit that being American has always been cool - regardless of who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

PS: I&#039;ve been living abroad for over six years and can tell you first hand that Bush did not make it easy to be American. In fact, he made things very, very difficult for us.
