The War and “Winning”
July 26, 2008 – 5:54 pmI keep hearing a claim that America is finally winning the war in Iraq. This is a falsehood since this war can only end with varying degrees of loss. Even if we manage to beat the insurgents to utter annihilation, this war has long since been lost. It’d be like invading peaceful Canada. Canada would get pissed and kill a bunch of us…but as time went on, they’d succumb, and then Fox News would put out articles saying “we’re winning the war.” The only measure of success would be to say “the insurgents that we created finally stopped attacking back.”
An even better analogy would be throwing a rock at a bees nest. You throw the rock, the bees get all crazy, then they start stinging you. You manage to kill every last one of them, and proclaim proudly that you’re winning. Although, it was a fight that never had to take place and you’re left with a four thousand stings. Only a retarded fourth grader would consider this a victory.
The problem is, the war with Iraq was unjustified and unnecessary. Because of this, the second we lost one troop marked the moment we lost the fabricated war. If that is not bad enough, there are now at least seven terror groups that now exist because of this war.
Just like throwing a rock at a beehive, at this point, there are only various degrees of loss.
