What can a $3000 camera do?

This weekend I decided to test out my new Nikon D2Xs 12.4 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera, which set me back $2900 after some sort of sale.

This past month, Bill Clinton has been dotting small towns all over the map, making grassroots-style speeches. These pictures were taken in Whiting, Indiana, about two blocks over from my neighborhood.

Image 1 was taken from about 50 yards.

Image 2 was taken from about 50 yards, but this time I wanted to test the limits of the camera. This was taken from a tripod. No, this isn't photoshopped, but it is infact cropped. The different background is due to a change in angle since someone came and stood in my way.

Image 3. I took about 50 pictures that day, and it all ended when this dude pictured below, saw me and told me to put my camera away. I guess I didn't look like press? Though this guy was pretty scary, he was extremely respectful and well mannered (and GD scary). So I packed up and enjoyed the rest of the speech. For 10 points, tell me what body of the government he's from.
